The Concert featured Austrian & Australian Music
Program included a special Viennese music segment, traditional and new folk songs, yodels and instrumental music from Austria, including Dieter Bajzek’s unique “Yodel Cantata”.
Also performed was a selection of ‘classic’ Australian folk songs,
especially arranged for the Austrian Choir and instruments by Dieter Bajzek.
“Stubenmusik” Ensemble: Majella Drew (piano & keyboard), Helen Poole (violin), Christine Zangl (Hackbrett/hammered dulcimer), Norman Grimmett (guitar), Dieter Bajzek (accordion), Gavan McCarthy (double bass).
Exciting guest performance by Western Creation,
one of Melbourne’s finest and authentic indigenous music and dance groups.

250th birthday, as well as a few surprises.
Cclassical music ranging from Mozart,
Schubert, Kreisler and Johann Strauss,
current Austrian composers like
Muthspiel and Maierhofer,
popular swinging songs
from the 20th Century,
to the unique and very
beautiful folk songs,
yodels and traditional
instrumental music
of Austria.

An event of rare sophistication and elegance

The Austrian Choir celebrated its 25th Anniversary and W.A. Mozart's 250th Birthday with the elegant sounds of the ‘Mozart Orchestra’, directed by Thomas Pinschof, specialising in the timeless dances by Strauss, Mozart, Lanner, Beethoven, Schubert and others. Alternating with the fabulous orchestra was the ‘Alpine Cocktail’ dance band, playing joyful traditional and contemporary dance music.
